Paul Withee, a high school football coach who posted a nude photo of himself on Facebook, resigned on Monday.

WCSH6 reported that the Withee, the coach at Oxford Hills, resigned after the school received several complaints that he had posted a nude photo of himself on the popular social networking site. School Superintendent Rick Colpitts told the media that he met with Withee and accepted his resignation.

The Associated Press reported the photograph was meant to be seen by a personal friend but was accidentally posted to his general Facebook profile, where everyone was able to see it. The photograph was posted last week, and it was reportedly online for about 10 minutes before it was removed.

Withee was placed on paid leave after a parent notified district officials on Feb. 7 of the nude photograph.

I'm embarrassed, I'm ashamed, I'm humiliated, Withee reportedly told the Sun Journal of Lewiston, Maine.

Withee also taught math and science at the middle school, according to reports. He took the job at Oxford Hills last March after spending 19 years at Foxcroft Academy, where his teams won three state championships, according to The AP.
