Former junior welterweight title holder, Paul Malignaggi, lost Saturday night to Juan Diaz in a closely contested fight in Houston, Texas.

According to Malignaggi, Diaz was shown favor as he was fighting in his own hometown. Among Malignaggi's complaints was the choice of judges, two of whom were from Texas, with one from Oklahoma. The boxer also said the referee was also a Texas native.

In his post-fight interview with HBO's Max Kellerman, Malignaggi skewered Houston and its treatment of visiting fighters, NY Daily News reported.

I had to deal with a lot of politics, Malignaggi said, his voice rising with emotion. That was ridiculous. I knew I was going to have to deal with this...I'm telling you, this state never gives a fair shake to anyone coming to this state to fight hometown fighters. It never happens, the site reported.
