Courtney B. Vance reminded the 2016 Emmy Awards audience that he isn’t the only person in his family employed by executive producer Ryan Murphy. He gave a shout out to his wife, “American Horror Story” actress Angela Bassett, as he accepted the outstanding lead actor in a limited series or movie statue on Sunday.

“To the woman that rocks my chain, Angela Evelyn Bassett, this one is for you girl!” the “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” star said during his speech inside the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Vance was referring to co-star Sterling K. Brown’s speech, in which the Christopher Darden actor thanked his wife in a similar way.

Vance, who played Johnnie Cochran in the FX drama, met Bassett while they were both studying at Yale in 1980. The actors married in 1997 and have two children, twins Slater Josiah Vance and Bronwyn Golden Vance. They were born in 2006.

Bassett, who was nominated in 2014 and 2015 for her “AHS” roles, was not nominated this year. She was in the audience to support her husband.

The Emmy Awards are airing tonight on ABC. Find out how to live stream the show HERE. See the full list of nominees HERE.
