Kazuo Hirai, a top Sony executive on Saturday announced that the PlayStation Network is coming back online.

“The first phase has now been launched,” he said in a video statement posted on the Playstation website blog.

He said access to third party services had also been restored along with other functionality.

Hirai holds the title of Corporate Executive Officer and Executive Vice President of Networked Products & Services Group.
