Among the more than 80 Gen 2 Pokémon that arrived in “Pokémon GO” late last week, baby Pokémon Tyrogue stands out not because of its boy-like frame, but because of the fact that it has three different Evolutions. Just like Eevee’s Evolutions, Tyrogue‘s evolved forms are distinct from each other and there is typically no way for one to know which Evolution he or she is getting. Interestingly, one Trainer is claiming that he has mapped data for the Evolutions and found a way for one to know if his or her Tyrogue is going to evolve to either Hitmontop, Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan.

On The Silph Road subreddit, a thread that was started by user DrWolfenstein presents a research that many players helped in realizing just to know the dynamics of Fighting-type baby Pokémon Tyrogue. The spreadsheet basically contains data from users who already got the chance to evolve their Tyrogue to any of its three Evolutions. Majority of the input provided by Trainers point to a pattern that may help other players know if their pocket monster is transforming to the Evolution they were hoping for.

DrWolfenstein stated that the data gave it enough reason to believe that Tyrogue’s Fighting-type Evolutions are dependent on the highest stat it has. If its Attack is higher than the rest, the Tyrogue one has is likely to evolve to Hitmonlee. When Defense is above the others, it’s quite possible that it’s going to be Himonchan. On the other hand, when Stamina/HP is higher than the others, one should expect Hitmontop.

The Redditor believes that the system will only choose the Tyrogue Evolution at random in the event that the stats of the player are equal. In case two stats are a tie, the system also gets to pick which Evolution to present to the Trainer.

For players interested in obtaining Tyrougue and its Evolutions, Eurogamer reminds that the baby Pokémon is only available through the 5km Eggs. Also, only Pokémon Eggs collected after the Gen 2 Update was rolled out could contain Tyrogue. Therefore, players are advised to collect as many Eggs as possible now that the latest major update is live.
