Victoria Beckham, former Spice Girl and the wife of David Beckham, ex-Manchester United star, will launch a less expensive fashion line called Victoria by Victoria Beckham, while her hubby's underwear line is due out later this year.

Victoria will show more appeal to the younger consumer because of the style choice for this line as well as price range. The dresses are stated to be bright-colored, 60's styled mod, coupled with the inspiration of fictional cartoon character Emily the Strange (created by Cosmic Debris). These creations come with a price tag between $550 and $900.

In a statement made by the designer about her reasoning for the new line, Beckham reveals she has been on the hunt for these kinds of dresses for herself. Beckham stated that she wanted, The perfect little summer dress, something that was fun, something that was girly, something that was easy to wear, something that would take you from day through the night.

Beckham first established herself as a fashion designer in 2008 with a more sophisticated and snug look, which has appealed to the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Heidi Klum and Jennifer Lopez. She insists her new designs will draw a larger variety of shoppers.

I'm opening these designs to women and girls of all different shapes and sizes, people who maybe want something less tight and clingy and structured...You can wear them with a pair of flats or a pair of heels and they look great, said the former Spice Girl known as 'Posh Spice.'

Beckham has been designing her new line during her latest pregnancy, which she revealed is a girl. The designer adds, This is the most girly collection I've ever created.

And her hubby is also no stranger to fashion design. The UK football star has revealed he will be launching his own underwear collection, due out sometime this year. As reported by Women's Wear Daily, Beckham stated:

I have had the idea of doing a body wear collection for some time now. The push to do something of my own really came as a result of my collaboration with Armani...It proved to me that there is a real market for good-looking, well-made men's body wear.

With my team we have spent time working on the fit, the fabric and the style to ensure the product looks and feels the very best and I am hugely proud of the end result. I can't wait to show people the collection - although I'm not sure my mum will be too happy seeing a billboard image of me in underwear again.

David and Victoria Beckham both modeled under garments together in the Spring and Summer 2009 collections for Emporio Armani photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
