Prince William and Kate Middleton already have their son's future all planned out.

When it comes to education, Prince George will likely follow his mom's footsteps and attend co-ed boarding school Marlborough College. A source recently claimed that the tot may later attend a co-ed school and not a prestigious boys-only school unlike his father, Prince William, and uncle, Prince Harry. "The word on the street is that his parents want co-education and boarding when he leaves prep school," a source told The Sunday Times (via Daily Mail).

According to the publication, the most popular choice of senior education for those who attended Thomas's Battersea is Brighton College. And if Prince George indeed goes to the school, the headmaster of Brighton College reportedly feels that it would be "groundbreaking" for the British royals to make such a decision. He added that this choice reflected "feeling of modern parents who feel increasingly strongly that segregating their sons from their daughters is unnatural and not obvious preparation for a world where women and men are equal partners at work."

This discussion might be a little too early, however, as Prince George just started attending Thomas's Battersea in London on Sept. 7. However, his parents have reportedly been open about their desire to send their son to a co-ed school. "Their Royal Highnesses are delighted to have found a school where they are confident George will have a happy and successful start to his education," the palace said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the school principals of Thomas's Battersea were also delighted to welcome Prince George in their school. "This is clearly a significant moment for their family and most certainly for Thomas's," the primary school said in a statement. "Like so many parents, the Duke and Duchess have put a great deal of thought into the choice of their eldest child's first 'big school.'"

Initially, Prince William and Middleton planned to escort Prince George on his first day of school. Unfortunately, the Duchess of Cambridge had been suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum or severe morning sickness at the time, so she was not able to make it. According to sources, the pregnant royal was upset because she missed the milestone in her son's life. "Kate watched the news from home," an insider said. "She was desperately sad that she couldn't make it but she is on firm bed rest now until she feels better."

Although his mom was not able to accompany him, Prince George looked adorable on his first day of school portrait with Prince William. In the photo, Prince George looked relax and happy in his new school uniform.
