Free Comic Book Day 2015
Free Comic Book Day 2015 includes a preview of Marvel's "Secret Wars." Marvel

Free Comic Book Day 2015 (FCBD) couldn't have come on a better Saturday. The event has taken place on the first Saturday of May since 2002, but this year sees "Avengers: Age of Ultron" opening in theaters. The Marvel superhero movie is sure to smash plenty of box office records and what's a better way to celebrate the film than with some free comics? If you stop by your local comic store, you can choose from over 50 free titles including previews of Marvel's big "Secret Wars" event and a glimpse of what's next for "All-New, All-Different Avengers."

FCBD began 14 years ago and much like Record Store Day celebrates the independent store owners and fans who have kept the comic industry running. The FCBD site features a quick way to find your local participating store and FCBD 2015's sponsors include DC Entertainment, Marvel, Image, New York Comic Con, San Diego Comic Con and Legendary to name a few.

Marvel is making sure you know all about it's big comic event for the year, "Secret Wars." The huge crossover features alternate universes combining in Battleworld. Expect plenty of chaos, mayhem and maybe even a few character deaths along the way as Marvel creates a new, singular universe. The Hollywood Reporter has a great breakdown of what to expect from "Secret Wars" and the various tie-ins. "Avengers" was heavily involved in setting up the series and "Time Runs Out" sets up the big crossover and paves the way for a new Avengers team. As an added bonus with the "Secret Wars" preview, fans can also get their hands on the "Avengers/Attack on Titan" crossover that was previously only available in Japan.

Other titles include a special "Doctor Who" comic that sees the Tenth Doctor, Eleventh Doctor and Twelfth Doctor teaming up for an adventure. DC Comics is also previewing its own big events with previews of the "Darkseid Wars" and "Superman" written by Gene Luen Yang -- the graphic novelist whose "American Born Chinese" was a National Book Award Finalist.
