Rafael Nadal confirmed his dominance at the French Open on Sunday, defeating Stan Wawrinka to capture his 10th title at Roland Garros in a dominant effort that matched his convincing run to the final, 6-2 6-3 6-1. It's the 15th Grand Slam title for Nadal, who had long ago established himself as one of the greatest tennis players of the Open Era and arguably the best clay-court player of all-time.

During stretches, Nadal looked almost perfect on Philippe-Chatrier court. The No. 4 seed finished with 27 winners and had just 12 unforced errors, keeping No. 3 seed Wawrinka on the defensive from start to finish in a match that lasted two hours and five minutes. On the second Championship Point, Nadal broke Wawrinka's serve as the Swiss star's backhand volley went into the net to end the match, sending Nadal into Grand Slam immortality.

Speaking in French, Nadal described the win as "incredible," and then the Spaniard had to switch to speaking English because "I am emotional."

"It is the most important event for me in my career."

Nadal, who turned 31 earlier in June, dominated the tournament, losing just 29 games leading up to the final. He did not concede a set in the entire tournament.

The King of Clay first won the French Open in 2005 as a 19-year-old. The victory Sunday puts him in elite company, as only Pete Sampras and Ken Rosewall have won Grand Slam titles in their teens, 20s and 30s. The latest title also ends a two-year title drought in Paris.

Nadal now boasts a spectacular 79-2 record at Roland Garros and his 15th title puts him in second place behind Roger Federer, who has 18 Grand Slam titles.
