Senator Rand Paul has been detained by the Transportation Security Administration. He is reportedly been held at the Nashville Airport.

Senator Paul allegedly refused a fully body pat-down after the body scanner revealed an anomaly.

My son @SenRandPaul being detained by TSA for refusing full body pat-down after anomaly in body, said Congressman Ron Paul on Twitter. Others also took to Twitter, reTweeting the Congressman's message and sharing their thoughts on the situation.

Both Rand Paul and TSA became trending topics on Twitter.

A TSA spokesperson who asked not to be identified said that the agency will be releasing a statement shortly on the events that transpired. The spokesperson could not comment any further on the situation.

Congressman Ron Paul is the outspoken critic of the TSA. In 2010, he introduced the American Traveler Dignity Act as a response to what he deemed invasive pat-downs and potentially dangerous X-Ray screening proceures by TSA agents.
