Grammy-winning country music artist Randy Travis was arrested late Tuesday night after Texas authorities reportedly found him drunk and naked on a road. Travis has been charged with drunk driving and retaliation.

Travis, 53, was found lying in the road near his hometown of Tioga, roughly 60 miles from Dallas. Not far away was his vehicle, which had collided with highway construction barriers.

"He was not clothed at the time," Grayson County Sheriff's Sgt. Rickey Wheeler told Reuters.

According to troopers on the scene, Travis smelled strongly of alcohol, but refused to take a breath or blood test at the scene. He was later found to have been intoxicated after authorities obtained a warrant and took a blood test at a nearby hospital.

According to Wheeler, once arrested, Travis threatened to "shoot and kill" the troopers.

State troopers determined that Travis had been involved in a one-car accident when they responded to an emergency call about "a man lying in the roadway."

While it is not clear whether or not Travis was injured in the crash, his mug shot shows some busies and scrapes around the country singer's face.

Travis was released on bail Wednesday afternoon, on a bond of $21,500. While his drunk driving charge is only a misdemeanor, the retaliation charge is a third-degree felony.

Travis, who is best known for the country hit "He Walked on Water," was also arrested near Tioga in February. He was charged for public intoxication and released on a small bond.

Neither Travis nor his representatives have responded to the charges.
