Steven Tyler, the frontman of the band Aerosmiths, and Randy Jackson are all set to come back for the 11th season of ‘American Idols' but it is the singing Diva Jennifer Lopez who is still sitting on the fence and is not certain of her comeback.
Jennifer told BBC 1 I recently that she had a lot of things coming up the next year, hence it was difficult for her to make a decision.
The singer will be promoting her hit album ‘Love’ and a perfume . She is also co-hosting a Latin American talent show, Q’Viva, with her husband. The show, to be produced by Simon Fuller, will be on air in 21 countries and will be shot in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
There are also rumors going around that Jennifer is holding out for a bigger piece of the pie. She was paid $12 million for her appearance in the last season. It is believed she wants what Simon Cowell was paid, namely $35 million or something similar.
With Simon Cowell’s exit, the 10th season of Idol was in uncertain territory with two new judges. It was felt no one could replace Simon’s persona and acerbic comments. But the new judges more than filled up the slot. The celebrity pull of Jennifer Lopez and the rockstar persona and the hitting -the-nail unbiased comments of Tyler drew the audiences.
The 2010-11 show with new judges and a changed format saw a halt of the previous slide in the viewers’ ratings.
American Idol ended the 2010-2011 television season as the #1 and #2 show in Total Viewers, and the #1 and #3 show in Adults 18-49. The Wednesday performance shows earned an average of 25.864 million viewers and an 8.8/24 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic, while the Thursday results show earned an average of 23.798 million viewers and a 7.7/22 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic.
JLo had a new album to promote last season, and her appearance on the Idols show helped to put her back on the map. With her plate full at the moment , she may just miss the coming season.
Does this mean that we will see another frenzy of speculations over who will be filling her slot?
