Puerto Rican rapper Wisin announced the death of his daughter Victoria Friday in an Instagram post that asked god to help him through the tragedy. Wisin, who gained fame as part of rap duo Wisin and Yandel, said he was happy he at least was able to spend one month with his daughter before she died.

"I thank God for her one month of life, one month with Victoria," Wisin, whose real name is Juan L. Morera, wrote. "Princess Victoria, I will see you again in heaven. I’m in so much pain, God please help me. I want to thank millions of people who were praying for our family and for our Victoria."

He went on: "Thank you because of all of your gestures and your words we were able to see God every day. My princess just died."

The reggaeton star said earlier this month that his daughter was born with the genetic disorder trisomy 13, which can limit organ development. Most babies diagnosed with the disorder die within a year. About 1 in 16,000 newborns have the condition.

"Like any other parent, we ask that you all continue to pray for us so that we can overcome this process and that our daughter will be able to recover soon. God will fulfill his purpose in our Victoria," he wrote to fans then.

Wisin had said his wife, Yomaira Ortiz, became depressed because of the diagnosis, Fox News Latino reported. He and his wife previously had two children together, 8-year-old Yelena and 7-year-old Dylan, according to media reports.

Ortiz told Telemundo Puerto Rico’s "Dando Candela," she was five months pregnant when she learned her daughter had the genetic disorder. Ortiz, who is anti-abortion, opted against terminating the pregnancy because of her Christian faith.

"Even if your doctors have recommended it, don’t abort your babies. Doctors try to convince you that abortion is the right thing to do, but that is not the path that God wants us to take," she said on the show. "Who are we to decide the life of a human being, even if it’s our own child?"

Wisin is a Grammy winner and a crossover star who has worked with Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez and Lenny Kravitz.
