The Real
Is “The Real” on the verge of cancellation? FOX

“The Real” has started a new season without Tamar Braxton, and some fans are not happy about her absence.

The show has had a 22 percent decrease in viewership, according to The Wrap. The decline in ratings is reportedly alarming, since it’s the lowest decrease in viewership a talk show has had in recent years.

Viewers of the show hosted by Adrienne Bailon, Tamera Mowry-Housely, Loni Love and Jeannie Mai have also taken to social media to share their dismay over the show’s direction after Braxton’s departure. Some have said that the show has become boring without Braxton’s commentary. Others have also called for the show to address the singer’s exit.

Braxton’s exit from the show was rather controversial. The singer detailed her departure in an interview with Steve Harvey, saying she was blindsided and was told at the last minute that she was no longer returning. Braxton said her husband, Vincent Herbert, called one of the show’s producers to ask about what she would wear for an event the hosts are participating in. Instead of getting clued in on the event, Herbert was given the news about Braxton’s firing.

Aside from the show, Braxton has also cut ties with her former co-hosts, save for Bailon. There were also rumors that the singer unfollowed a couple of her friends, Toya Wright and Monica Brown, after they guested on the talk show. Braxton, however, refuted the claims saying she was sick and did not want to see a “zillion posts” on her feed. The singer said her friends post “too much,” and she was not happy about it so she unfollowed them. Braxton said there was no drama behind the unfollowing.

Even though Braxton’s fans can no longer see her daily on “The Real,” they can expect to see her on her own talk show next year. The singer also has two reality shows: “Braxton Family Values” and “Tamar and Vince.”
