Reese Witherspoon was recently spotted in California carrying a python-skin purse that cost almost $4,000 -- the sale of which is reportedly illegal in the state - and PETA is concerned.
The purse in question is a $3,820 brown Chloe Paraty bag.
No matter how much Reese paid for that bag, the animals paid a much higher price, a PETA spokeswoman has been quoted by the media. Every year, millions of snakes are impaled on hooks or nailed to trees by their heads and skinned alive.
Back in 2006, PETA, an animal rights group, crowned Witherspoon one of its sexiest vegetarians.
We can't imagine that she'd wish to contribute to this hidden suffering, especially for something as frivolous as a fashion accessory that can be replicated with no bloodshed, a PETA representative reportedly told the Daily Mail.
