Apple has reportedly placed an order for 100 million 8Gb NAND flash chips, mostly with Samsung Electronics, sources told Digitimes.

Apple could likely produce next-generation of iPhone models, Information Week's Eric Zeman speculated. He said the amount of chips purchased would be enough for 6 million 16GB iPhones or 3 million 32GB models. Digitimes also previously reported that Apple has ordered 3.2- and 5.0-megapixel camera modules.
