‘Riverdale’
How will Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) cope with the arrival of the Sugarman in “Riverdale” Season 2? The CW

“Riverdale” Season 2 will introduce a villainous character who has a mysterious connection to Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) and Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines).

On his Twitter account, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared a colorful drawing of Sugarman and the young Blossom siblings. In the teaser, the big bad wears black trousers and a colorful long-sleeved top. He also has an angry look on his face while looking at the Blossoms. Cheryl and Jason are holding hands in the snap.

In Season 1, Jason was killed by their own father, Clifford (Barclay Hope), so it’s impossible for the Sugarman to continue tormenting him. However, Cheryl is still very much alive, and she’s also expected to turn meaner and darker in Season 2. In the “Archie” comic books, Sugarman was the name of Cheryl’s pomeranian. However, there is no mention of the character as a villain.

One Reddit user, however, described Sugarman as a cowardly but murderous creature that sneaks into people’s homes and eats them if he can’t find any sweets that could satisfy his cravings. In the Reddit user’s description, Sugarman was depicted as “short and fat, almost round.” However, Aguirre-Sacasa’s drawing shows the villain as a tall, creepy-looking figure.

“With a sharp nose better at smelling than a dog. He follows that nose through the snow, but he gets cold and needs the warmth of the houses. He slips into them easier than a mouse, he’s done it for so long that he doesn’t even to think how anymore. His tongue is long, longer than a dog and or a snake and it’s sharp, flicking out, looking for the sugar,” the rest of the description read.

Meanwhile, Sugarman isn’t the only new character that will be introduced in “Riverdale” Season 2. Graham Phillips will play the role of Veronica Lodge’s (Camila Mendes) ex-boyfriend, Nick St. Clair. Charles Melton will be replacing Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle. Mark Consuelos will make his first appearance in the series in October as Veronica’s dad, Hiram Lodge.

“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. EDT.
