Despite making fewer appearances on “Keeping up with the Kardashians” in order to focus on himself, Rob Kardashian does not seem to be getting any healthier. The 27-year-old was spotted in Malibu, hanging out with male friends on Monday.

Dressed in all black, Kardashian still looked quite large, and did not seem to be too happy to see photographers. Meanwhile, his mother, Kris Jenner, is now reportedly trying to get him to join NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” after he gained at least 40 pounds in the past year.

"Rob is living in L.A. right now and he's doing well, finding out what makes him tick and struggling with some stuff," Jenner told E! last month, without going into specific details. "My job is to be there for him and to love him as hard as I can. Everybody goes through stuff."

Apparently, a mother's job also entails getting him to lose the weight he put on recently. “With 'Biggest Loser' being on NBC, they share a lot of the same people who make decisions with E!, so Kris has been in meetings to see if it would work to have Rob on Season 16 this fall,” a source tells Hollywood Life. “Everyone is on board for this to happen except Rob; he still needs convincing. But most people involved in the talks think Kris will get her way and have him join the show.”

After gaining weight last year after a bad breakup with singer Rita Ora, Kardashian began to seclude himself. Several months ago, there were reports that Rob checked himself into rehab at the Meadows trauma and addiction treatment center in Arizona. He reportedly gained weight due to smoking marijuana, drinking alcohol and prescription cough syrup.

He has since been working with his trainer, Gunnar Peterson, who also works with Khloe and Kim Kardashian. “I need to limit him. That kind of person, someone has to be there 24/7,” Peterson told TMZ in May about his plans for Rob. Peterson also said Rob will also endure an hour of high-intensity full body exercises, including cardio and resistance training. However, if he ends up joining the cast of “The Biggest Loser,” Kardashian will have to endure more than that. Contestants, in addition to drastically changing their appetites, also work out for hours on end every day.
