A rock burst this week at Hecla Mining Co.'s Luky Friday mine in Idaho that left seven miners injured was not related to two previous fatal accidents that occurred earlier this year in the mine, the mining company said Friday.

All seven miners injured in Wednesday's accident, which occurred at 5,900 feet underground, are expected to make a full recovery, Hecla said.

The company evacuated all 25 employees and 18 contract workers at the time the accident and halted operations to conduct an investigation.

There had not been blasting in the mine in the previous 24 hours, Hecla said.

Wednesday's rock burst followed a November accident that killed one worker and a ground collapse in April.

The mine remained shut Friday to facilitate an accident investigation and analysis, Hecla said.
