The Rock made headlines late last month when he announced that he would be a part of WrestleMania 32. The eight-time WWE champion didn’t specify what his role would be, leading to speculation that he could have a match at the biggest pay-per-view of 2016.

As one of the biggest stars in Hollywood with a busy filming schedule, The Rock doesn’t appear likely to wrestle in Dallas. He suffered an injury in his last WWE match, which came on the heels of the production for “Hercules,” one of The Rock’s biggest movies to date. But with WWE needing as much star power as possible on the match card, it certainly can’t be ruled out that The Rock will lace up his boots on April 3.

With stars like John Cena, Sting, Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan likely unable to have a match at WrestleMania 32 because of injuries, WWE would certainly like to have The Rock on the card. If The Rock does compete in the ring, only a few names stand out as logical opponents.

For years, Vince McMahon has reportedly wanted to pit The Rock against Brock Lesnar a WrestleMania. Between The Rock’s success in movies and Lesnar’s success in the UFC, they are WWE’s biggest mainstream stars. The match was supposed to headline WrestleMania 30 in New Orleans, but The Rock’s aforementioned injury never allowed WWE to follow through with their plans.

Two years later, Lesnar is an even bigger star in WWE, and he’s looking for a WrestleMania 32 opponent. The former UFC heavyweight champion could potentially win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Royal Rumble and face Roman Reigns in a title match in Dallas, but it’s looking more and more like Reigns will face Triple H at the PPV.

Triple H and Reigns are almost certainly headed towards a match in the near future. WWE’s COO hasn’t appeared on “Monday Night Raw” since he was beaten up by Reigns at TLC, and a match between the two wrestlers at WrestleMania 32 only seems fitting. However, WWE could certainly choose to make Triple H vs. Reigns a match at Fastlane in February, freeing up Triple H to face The Rock in April.

WWE has already planted the seeds for a future match between The Rock and Triple H at WrestleMania 32. They got into a physical altercation at WrestleMania 31, concluding with UFC star Ronda Rousey forcing Stephanie McMahon to leave the ring. The match would also make sense because The Rock is related to Reigns, adding even more intrigue to the storyline.

The best use of The Rock might be to pit him against a wrestler like Kevin Owens, who could be a top heel in WWE for years to come. But a match between The Rock and a wrestler that isn’t an established future Hall of Famer probably won’t happen.

The Rock’s last match came at Wrestlemania 29 when he lost the WWE Championship to Cena.
