Broadcasters ProSieben and RTL have filed an appeal against a decision by the federal cartel office to quash their plans for a joint online TV platform.

The two broadcasters confirmed to Spiegel magazine they had filed complaints.

ProSieben and RTL Deutschland, the German operation of pan-European broadcaster RTL Group, announced their plan in August, seeking to create a platform that will enable users to view programs up to seven days after their original broadcast free of charge. The watchdog said in March the project would dominate the market for TV advertising.
