Psychedelic slow-burners Amen Dunes joined wonked-hiphop-art mashup act RUN DMT at Williamsburg's 285 Kent Thursday, Feb. 22 2012. Amen Dunes mostly drifted amidst Through Donkey Jaw, the band's excellent 2011 Sacred Bones Records release. RUN DMT smashed down walls between hiphop and art-pop, taking no prisoners in its psych-soaked blistering RnB bangers. The venue itself has a new sculptural installation (or it was the first I'd seen of it) of found-art materials. The pieces of signage visibly salvaged from the streets warm the warehouse sound of Kent and offer an intense visual overhead to the already beautifully painted walls.
