  • Seacrest claimed that he tried to get Cohen and Cooper's attention but only the latter turned to him

Ryan Seacrest claimed Andy Cohen snubbed him as they hosted their respective New Year's Eve specials over the weekend.

The 48-year-old television personality spoke about his recent encounter with Cohen, 54, and Anderson Cooper, 55, who hosted CNN's "New Year's Eve Live" Saturday night on a stage right in front of where Seacrest was hosting his own special.

Seacrest told co-host Kelly Ripa, 52, during Tuesday's episode of "Live With Ryan and Kelly" that Cohen didn't turn to look at him despite his efforts to get their attention.

"It was funny because my big stage was right in front of Anderson and Andy," he said, Page Six reported. "When I was not working, I was trying to get their attention."

The "American Idol" host showed Ripa how he waved to Cooper and Cohen. However, he claimed that only one of the two greeted him back.

"I thought maybe I was in the shot. I just wanted to wave and say hi. They have a great show," Seacrest added. "And Anderson, the best. He turns around and he says, 'Have a good show.' Very nice. Andy did not turn around."

But Ripa refuted her co-host's claim and alleged that Cohen did try to say hello to Seacrest.

"That's not true. He said he was trying to get your attention," the "Live Wire" author said.

Cohen's rep did not immediately respond to requests for comment when Page Six reached out.

Cohen and Cooper had some booze when they hosted the NYE broadcast in 2021. At the time, the "Real Housewives" producer shaded the ABC broadcast team for "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve," which is hosted by Seacrest.

"If you look behind me, you'll see Ryan Seacrest's group of losers performing," Cohen was quoted as saying by Us Weekly during the 2021 show. "I'm sorry, but if you're watching ABC, you're watching nothing."

Cohen later regretted his behavior and attributed it to his intoxication.

"The only thing that I regret saying, the only thing is that I slammed the ABC broadcast," Cohen was quoted by People as saying. "And I really like Ryan Seacrest, and he's a great guy, and I really regret saying that, and I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it."

Following the incident, CNN banned alcohol from the New Year's broadcast.

Cohen said days before the 2022 show that he and Cooper would not be drinking during the special.

"We aren't drinking, but we're going to have a blast," Cohen told Page Six last week.

Seacrest applauded CNN's effort to reduce drinking on air.

"I don't advocate drinking when one is on the air. I don't know how that started as a tradition, but it's probably a good idea (to scale back)," he told Entertainment Weekly.
