Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Samsung Galaxy S6 Reuters

Verizon is getting ready for its Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge launch and has shown what its models of the devices will look like. Both smartphones will feature Verizon branding on their back panels when they launch in the early part of the second quarter, the network announced via Twitter.

That may not go over well with consumers, who usually find carrier branding on smartphones gaudy. But that has never stopped Verizon.

Though Samsung announced the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge would hit markets April 11, it is possible some U.S. carriers may release the devices a few days or weeks later as has happened in the past. Some carriers have even shipped handsets to customers a few days early during previous flagship launches. Verizon has not yet divulged a specific release date for its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models.

Color Options

It appears the U.S. will receive the black and white models of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge though Samsung announced black, white, blue, gold and green color options for the devices. Verizon’s information page shows only black and white models of the device, as does Samsung’s U.S. website. It is customary for Samsung to initially release only two colors of its flagship devices in the U.S., and have carriers offer other colors as exclusive or limited edition options. This was done with the Galaxy S5, which initially released in black and white color options in the U.S. Blue and gold color options became available months later.
