Samsung Unpacked Invite Samsung

The Samsung Galaxy S8 could be available for preorder on the same day it’s announced if recent reports are to be believed. Dutch blog Android World claims Samsung will make preorders available for the Galaxy S8 in the Netherlands March 29. There is no word on whether this is a global or market specific preorder date.

There remains a lot of mystery around when the Galaxy S8 will be released. Prior rumors suggested the device may be available for preorder in Korea April 7. With Korea being Samsung’s home market, it is unlikely the Galaxy S8 would be available in other markets first. Some recent reports also suggest an April 2 preorder date in the U.S.

There is even some confusion over when the Galaxy S8 will be released to the market. Some reports indicate an April 21 release date, while others suggest April 28.

Samsung is expected to release the Galaxy S8 at a later date than previous launches due to the fallout from the Galaxy Note 7 discontinuation. The manufacturer will implement a rigorous battery-check system to ensure Galaxy S8 handsets are safe.Overall, Samsung is expected to have an extended pre-order period for the Galaxy S8, likely to have an extensive marketing period before the device hits the market.

During prior release periods, such as for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Note 7, Samsung had short preorder periods and quick roll outs onto the market. After being unveiled Feb. 21, 2016, the Galaxy S7 was available for preorder Feb. 23 and released March 11. After being unveiled Aug. 2, 2016, the Galaxy Note 7 was available for preorder Aug, 3 and release Aug. 19.

So far Samsung has not confirmed anything about when the Galaxy S8 will hit stores. Details are expected during Samsung’s Unpacked event, which will take place March 29 in New York City.
