The Samsung Gear 360 has been officially announced during the Samsung’s Developer Conference that was held in San Francisco on Wednesday. However, Samsung did not reveal the price tag of the device, but it has confirmed that the Gear 360 release date is April 29.

The Samsung Gear 360 VR was unveiled alongside the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones at the Mobile World Congress that was held in last month. On Wednesday, the company announced that the 360-degree camera will go on sale in select countries like South Korea and Singapore on April 29, CNET reported.

Even though Samsung has not revealed the price of Gear 360, some of the U.S. retailers have already listed them on their websites. B&H Photo has listed the 360-degree camera for $349.99 whereas Adorama has listed it for $399.99. Hence, it is expected to be priced around $350 to $400 in the U.S.

The Samsung Gear 360 is equipped with two 15-mgeapixel cameras each featuring its own f/2.0 aperture lenses. Each lens can be used to shoot 180-degree photos and videos.

Both the lenses can be used together to shoot 25.9-megapixel 360-degree photos at a resolution of 7776 x 3888 pixels. The 360-degree videos recorded by it carry a resolution of 3840 x 1920 pixels.

The device weighs 152 grams and it features a dust and water resistant chassis making it ideal for outdoor usage. The photos and videos shot by Gear 360 can be uploaded to Milk VR service by Samsung for a true 360 viewing experience on a Gear VR headset.

Also, the recorded content can be saved on a smartphone through Wi-Fi for 2D viewing. The Gear 360 also allows users to share the captured moments on Facebook and YouTube. There is no internal storage on Gear 360, but it comes with support for up to 200 GB microSD card on its external storage slot.
