Samsung Electronics Co Ltd's new chief executive Choi Geesung said the South Korean technology giant would cultivate new revenue sources in the infotainment and lifecare sectors and beef up its PC, appliance and camera businesses.

Choi, who officially took over as chief executive on Thursday, said in his inauguration speech that Samsung would further cement its leading position in televisions, mobile phones, memory chips and liquid crystal displays, while seeking to develop future growth engines.

To secure the foundation for sustainable growth, we will find new businesses in the areas of infotainment ... and lifecare such as health, environment and energy, Choi said, according to a Samsung statement.

Infotainment refers to information-based media content or programing that includes entertainment content to increase its audience appeal.
