Spanish bank Santander on Friday said its risk profile is medium to low due to its high level of diversification, relatively low lending to large companies and financial institutions and low exposure to structured finance.

In a presentation to analysts, Santander said its loan book amounted to 561.3 billion euros ($780 billion) at the end of the first half of this year.

Bad and doubtful loans amounted to 5.35 billion euros against which the bank said it has made provisions of 9.06 billion.

Its Spanish loan book stood at 226 billion euros of which 62 billion is residential mortgages and 15.5 billion is to property developers.
