Sarah Palin knows how to court controversy. With her latest effort, she’s waded into the Confederate flag debate -- and is comparing the Southern white symbol to abortion.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate posted an image to her Facebook page Sunday, depicting the Confederate battle flag -- seen by many as a racist symbol -- and the Planned Parenthood logo side by side, over the line “Which symbol killed 90,000 black babies last year?” The post also included the hashtag #DefundPlannedParenthood.

Palin has been posting about Planned Parenthood frequently in the days since an anti-abortion group released undercover videos alleging that the organization and its affiliates profit from supplying researchers with fetal tissue from abortions.

Palin’s Planned Parenthood posts included calls to boycott businesses that donate to the organization and numbers on how many Planned Parenthood clinics are located in minority neightborhoods.
