If “Scandal” fans thought that episode 4 of Season 4 was jaw-dropping, then they won’t want to miss episode 5, “The Key.” Based on the synopsis, it sounds like Olivia (Kerry Washington) should have stayed “in the sun” with Jake (Scott Foley).

Two weeks ago, “Scandal” introduced Catherine (Sonya Walger), an old friend of Olivia’s whose daughter went missing. Olivia found the girl, but Catherine wasn’t telling the full story. Olivia’s friend had slept with her daughter’s teenage boyfriend -- and her daughter turned up dead when she went to confront her about staying quiet about it. By the end of episode 3, Catherine was arrested the crime.

Olivia took a break from the case in episode 4, when she aided Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) in covering up a sex tape involving his daughter. However, Olivia and her associates will be back on the case in episode 5 … until Olivia becomes distracted. According to the synopsis for “The Key,” Olivia will realize that something is wrong when Jake stops returning her calls.

What Olivia doesn’t know is that Jake was apprehended by the U.S. government in episode 4 after Secret Service Agent Tom (Brian Letscher) named him as the mastermind in murdering Fitz’s son, Jerry. Fitz wants answers for Jerry’s death in episode 5 of “Scandal,” but the truth is that Rowan (Joe Morton) and B613 was behind the whole operation. Olivia will be forced to turn to Abby (Darby Stanchfield) for help -- but will her old employee pull through?

Meanwhile, the synopsis explains that Cyrus will fall “deeper into the rabbit hole with Michael (Matthew Del Negro).” Will he ever find out that Lizzie Bear (Portia de Rossi) is the one behind their relationship? And what will Lizzie Bear do with the information?

“Scandal” Season 4, Episode 5 will air on ABC on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 9 p.m. EDT. What do you think will happen? Tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop.
