‘Scandal’
Will Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) get their happy ever after in “Scandal” Season 7? ABC

ABC’s “Scandal” will end after seven seasons, and Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) shippers couldn’t help but wonder if the two characters are the endgame.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly ahead of Season 7 premiere, Washington said that she thinks Olivia and Fitz will end up together because they both deserve to be happy. However, Washington also acknowledged the fact that series creator Shonda Rhimes can come up with a twist despite the fact that Season 7 will be the last for the show.

“But I also have learned that part of the brilliance of Shonda Rhimes is that she encourages us all to commit to the idea that not the same things make everybody happy, and that you get to define your happiness in your own way. So I don’t know if being with Fitz is what will make Olivia happy. We’ll see. I feel like we have a lot to learn in the next season,” she said.

Cast member Bellamy Young, meanwhile, opened up about Mellie Grant’s fate as the new president of the United States. In an interview with Variety, the actress teased Mellie’s professional dynamic with Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry), who happens to be her vice president.

“You cannot trust him even as you’re looking him straight in the face. I think Mellie remains quite awake, on guard, and ready whenever she’s with Cyrus. There’s no greater partner in politics than Cyrus. She knows that he can lift you up to the absolute heavens, but she knows that he’ll tear you down in an instant. It’s making a deal with the devil, which has always been what our show’s been about,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Young is devastated over the news that “Scandal” will be ending next season. The actress said that it’s somewhat bittersweet and even more heartbreaking. But even though Young feels sad over the upcoming cancellation, the actress also couldn’t help but feel grateful to Rhimes and Washington for being the rocks of the show. “It really has been a journey of love,” she said.

As of late, ABC hasn’t announced the premiere date for “Scandal” Season 7.
