A rebel fighter raises his arms as a convoy of residents flee fighting between rebels and government forces loyal to Libya's leader Muammar Gaddafi near the coastal town of Zawiyah, 50 km (30 miles) west of Tripoli, August 14, 2011. Libyan rebels hoisted their flag in the centre of the town near the capital on Sunday after the most dramatic advance in months cut off Gaddafi's capital from its main link to the outside world. US President Barack Obama warned that the crisis in Libya is still very fluid.”

There remains a degree of uncertainty and there are still regime elements who pose a threat, he said in a prepared statement.
But this much is clear. The [Moammar] Gadhafi regime is coming to an end and the future of Libya is in the hands of its people.

Obama added that the battle was not over yet.

He also called on Gadhafi to step down and order his remaining loyalists to lay down their arms.

Although it's clear that Gadhafi's rule is over, he still has the opportunity to reduce further bloodshed, Obama said.

Meanwhile, in Libya, it is unclear where Gadhafi is located, but he is believed to be hiding out somewhere in Tripoli, the capitol city that is now largely under the control of rebels.
