Not all “Scream Queens” characters who survived the Red Devil killing spree last installment are returning for Season 2.

In an Instagram post announcing the Season 2 renewal of the FOX series, Skyler Samuels revealed that she won’t be reprising her role as Grace Gardner in the upcoming season. “So happy for my sister slayers who are gonna kill it in Season 2!” the 22-year-old actress wrote on the social networking site in January. “Can't wait to see what scary stories are in store! #ScreamQueens #season2.”

While it’s unclear why Samuels isn’t part of the returning cast, the Stanford University graduate remains optimistic that she’s going to have another opportunity to work with “Scream Queens” creator Ryan Murphy in the future.

“I mean, I hope so,” Samuels told Yahoo Style in July, when asked if she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of working with Murphy again. “I don’t know what the future holds. I know he’s plowing ahead with ‘Scream Queens’ Season 2 and that will be crazy and weird and awesome as ‘Scream Queens’ is known to be — as are his other shows.”

“Needless to say, Ryan is always working on something, so if I can be so lucky to work with him again, then I definitely will,” added Samuels, who first collaborated with Murphy on “American Horror Story: Freak Show” in 2014.

Apart from Samuels, Season 1 cast member Oliver Hudson — who played Grace’s dad, Wes Gardner — won’t be coming back for Season 2 as well, despite his character being alive at the end of last season.

Original cast members who are confirmed to reprise their Season 1 roles in the new installment are Jamie Lee Curtis (Dean Cathy Munsch), Emma Roberts (Chanel Oberlin), Billie Lourd (Chanel #3 / Sadie Swenson) Abigail Breslin (Chanel #5 / Libby Putney), Lea Michele (Hester Ulrich), Keke Palmer (Zayday Williams), Glen Powell (Chad Radwell) and Niecy Nash (Denise Hemphill).

Joining them are a bunch of series newcomers, including John Stamos (Dr. Brock Holt), Taylor Lautner (Dr. Cassidy Cascade), James Earl (Chamberlain Jackson) and Kirstie Alley, among many others.

“Scream Queens” Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 9 p.m. ET on FOX. Read the full synopsis for the episode below:
