Selena Quintanilla's fans have a number of reasons to celebrate.

Selena's sister Suzette Quintanilla announced the good news on Instagram. "The wait is over! Selena will be honored with her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!"

The ceremony is scheduled on Nov. 3 in Los Angeles. The caption also revealed that the Hollywood Chamber President/CEO and Walk of Fame emcee Leron Gubler, along with Suzette, will unveil Selena's star in the category of recording.

And that's not all, because Selena will also be honored with her official "Selena Day." "Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, actress, producer and Texas native Eva Longoria will be there to proclaim November 3rd as the official 'Selena Day' in the city of Los Angeles, " Suzette added.

According to Suzette, this is a dream come true for their family. Selena's life has been an inspiration to many and they hope that it will continue to inspire the people to pursue their dreams. Among the personalities that were touched by Selena's story is Eva Longoria, who will also be receiving her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"I could never have dreamed that one day I would receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame," the "Desperate Housewives" star wrote on Instagram. "But even more ironic is that the same year I receive my star, so does my idol, my inspiration, my fellow Tejana, my fellow Corpus Christi native, Selena Quintanilla. She was the reason I even dared to dream that a better life was possible. And that that life didn't have to distance you from where you came from."

Selena was born on April 19, 1971, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She started her singing career at the age of 9 as a member of the Selena y Los Dinos, a band started by her dad, Abraham Quintanilla, Jr. Her first self-titled debut album was released on Oct. 17, 1989. She was one of the most celebrated artists and was labeled "Queen of Tejano music."

On March 31, 1995, Selena was shot by Yolanda Saldívar, a friend and former manager at the Selena Etc boutiques. The "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" songstress managed to escape to the lobby and was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. Saldívar was suspected of stealing money from the "Como la Flor" singer and Selena was reportedly planning to terminate her employment. Saldívar said that the shooting was an accident, but she was found guilty of Selena's murder.

Selena's crossover record "Dreaming of You" was released posthumously in July 1995. A movie based on her life and career was released in 1997 starring Jennifer Lopez, Entertainment Online reported.
