Scream
"Scream" is just one of the shows ending in September. Will Noah (John Karna) and Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) have to fight the killer in the Season 1 finale? MTV

With the end of summer vacation comes the end of summer TV shows. Over 25 programs will air season or series finales in September to make room for a ton of fall shows.

“Scream” Season 1 will kick off the month of finales on Sept. 1 on MTV. The horror series has captivated audiences with the murder mystery, but will the Brandon James killer finally be revealed in episode 10? It looks like the murderer will take at least a couple more lives before the season finale ends, so fans will have to hope their favorite characters survive.

Fellow freshman series “Mr. Robot” will also air a finale in September, but that wasn’t the original plan. The Season 1 finale was planned to air on Aug. 26, but the shooting of two WDBJ reporters in Virginia caused USA to postpone the episode. “Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode,” USA explained in a statement. “Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time.” The hacker drama’s finale, which includes some similarities to the real life tragedy, will air on Sept. 2.

It isn’t just new shows ending. “CSI” will air a series finale in September in the form of a TV movie. After 15 seasons, the CBS procedural drama has plenty of cast members to bring back for one last hurrah. Original cast members William Petersen (Gil Grissom) and Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) are just a couple of the actors returning to say goodbye on Sept. 27, Entertainment Weekly reports.
