“Shameless” will return with more drama when episode 4 of Season 5 airs Sunday, Feb. 1. And according to the synopsis for the upcoming installment, viewers will be scratching their heads harder than ever before after “A Night To Remem… Wait, What?" premieres.
After what looks like a wild night, Frank (William H. Macy) will be waken by a police office when the Showtime series begins. “Come on, bud. Up and at em’,” the cop says to a sleeping and dirt-covered Frank. The Gallagher patriarch will then attempt to explain how he ended up sleeping on a park bench, which he’ll blame on the celebration over getting his insurance pay off.
A promo video follows his statement with a scene of Frank gambling – and winning. “I earned it, too,” he concluded his explanation to the officer. But the synopsis says that Frank might not be as wealthy as he thought he was. When he goes to pick up his six-figure insurance settlement, he’ll be shocked to learn that “he’s already collected it.” Did Frank really gamble away his cash?
Meanwhile, Fiona (Emmy Rossum) will kick off episode 4 on a relaxed note as she and her current beau Gus (Steve Kazee) continue to hit it off. “Best part: no drama,” she revealed to her co-worker about her current relationship. However, her calm storyline will quickly crumble after Gus admits he’s falling in love with her – and according to the trailer, it doesn’t look like Fi’s too happy about it. However, the synopsis does hint that the duo will "head to city hall."
Lip (Jeremy Allen White) will escape the South side for a little taste of paradise when he visits Amanda (Nichole Bloom) “at her luxurious house in Miami.” And while it seems that Amanda is excited to see Lip, we can’t say the same for Amanda’s parents – who previously tried to pay Lip off to not see their daughter.
“Dad, are you locking the wine fridge because Lip is here?” she asks as her father is spotted fastening the alcohol-filled machine shut.
In the promo, it is also being teased that Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) and Ian (Cameron Monaghan) will find themselves in a bit of trouble when the brothers look to dealing and stealing in episode 4 as a way of making cash. Last, but not least, viewers can also anticipate Vee (Shanola Hampton) to confront her issues in the upcoming installment when she's forced to choose between her family and her freedom.
"Shameless" will air Season 5, episode 4 on Sunday, Feb. 1, at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime.
