“Shameless” star Emmy Rossum will go from causing chaos in the hit Showtime dramedy to directing it when the actress makes her directorial debut in Season 7 of the dark comedy.
“It’s official,” Rossum confirmed her exciting, new role on Instagram.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 29-year-old actress, who plays the role of Fiona Gallagher in the long-running series, will step behind the camera for the fourth episode in the upcoming installment.
Audiences will be able to watch the Rossum-directed episode sooner than they thought when the series, which has previously premiered in the spring, returns with a new season in the fall. Showtime announced in June that the Gallagher clan would be making an early return to the small screen this autumn, giving fans of “Shameless” two drama-stuffed seasons in the same calendar year.
The show will air its Season 7 premiere on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 9 p.m. EDT. But viewers can catch an even earlier sneak-peek of the forthcoming installment through the social media accounts of their favorite characters. Several actors of the award-winning series have captured behind-the-scenes moments while filming the upcoming drama.
Rossum snapped a selfie with Shanola Hampton, who portrays Vee, in hair and makeup before the two stepped in front of the camera. “Friends since ’09 #shameless,” Rossum captioned the sweet photo.
Steve Howey, who plays Vee’s husband Kev, also took a picture of his TV wife as Hampton waited for the director to yell “action!”
“The Queen waits for her cue… #shameless #V,” Howey wrote.
Howey even took a few action shots, including a still of Cameron Monaghan, who portrays Ian, in the Gallagher kitchen as Jeremy Allen White, who plays the role of Lip, and the show’s crew stands behind him.
“Shameless” will return to Showtime with its Season 7 premiere on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 9 p.m. EDT.
