Last year’s bezel-free Sharp Aquos Crystal smartphone made quite an impact across the globe. However, now, a Japanese report says, the company has come up with a bezel-less successor dubbed the “Sharp Aquos Crystal 2.”

Specifications, Features

When it comes to key Sharp Aquos Crystal 2 specifications, GSM Arena says, the handset will reportedly feature a 5.2-inch screen along with S-Pure LED display technology and 720p resolution. This time around, Sharp has seemingly decided to throw in the much-appreciated water-proofing feature, in addition to the mobile wallet option. As far as the size goes, the device will flaunt the following dimension - 136 x 71 x 11 mm and will weigh 154 g.

Moving on to the camera configuration, the Aquos Crystal 2 will reportedly sport a 2.1 MP shooter at the front for selfies. Interestingly, the location of the secondary camera has been moved to the tail-end of the device. Needless to say, this compromise has to be made in order to get the bezel-free display. In addition, the handset will house an 8 MP rear-facing camera unit.

Under the hood, the Aquos Crystal 2 will reportedly be powered by an unspecified Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and 2 GB of RAM configuration. With respect to memory specification, the handset will come equipped with 16 GB in-built storage capacity.

It is worth noting that, the water-proofing on the phone will enable the handset to withstand water-splashes but not water-submersions. To top it off, a new feature named “Grip Magic” has reportedly been added to the handset. And this feature uses the sensor on the side of the phone to detect touches.

Apart from the standard connectivity options, the Aquos Crystal 2 will also support LTE, HD Voice, NFC and 1-seg mobile TV. But then, Sharp has not made any headway in the battery department. Therefore, the successor will also come with the same 2,030 mAh battery unit. In any case, the company has reportedly stated that the new display panel is energy-efficient and therefore, the battery will not be burdened heavily.

Release Date

Speaking of Sharp Aquos Crystal 2 release date, the handset will be unveiled in Japan somewhere in mid-July. However, the global release date has not been confirmed by the company.
