Ten people were shot, one fatally, on an outdoor basketball court in West Detroit, the Detroit Free Press reported. So far, police have not discovered a reason for the shooting, which occurred just before 9 p.m. EDT Saturday.

At least three women, ages 30, 45, and 26, were among the injured. Police and residents expressed relief that although numerous children were present, none was reported injured. A block party was in progress at the time of the shooting.

Police told the Free Press that thus far, witnesses to the shooting were not cooperating with authorities.

A 46-year-old man was reported to be in critical condition, and two other men were in serious condition. Police did not immediately release the name of the deceased.

The shooting comes at a sensitive time for a nation grappling with a mass shooting in Charleston, South Carolina that left nine dead.

Also on Saturday, a shooting in West Philadelphia reportedly left seven injured, including a 2-year-old.
