After One Direction has announced last Sunday that their group will be on a long hiatus from March next year, a lot of One Directioners were saddened by the news. However, it is not clear yet as to how long the group will be having their break.

It seems that the even Simon Cowell, one of the fans of One Direction, is clueless as about the group’s plans in the near future. ET Online reported that Cowell is not sure whether One Direction will eventually split up.

In an interview at the launch of the latest season of “X Factor” Wednesday, Cowell candidly said, “I don’t know if they’re going to split up to be honest with you.” He added that prior to One Direction’s announcement of being on hiatus, he already knew that the group wanted to have a break by next year, and that they will be working on different projects separately.

Although One Direction has already announced that they will not be disbanding, rumors have been spreading that the group will come to an end soon. Cowell, on the other hand, thinks that the group deserves the break. Ever since 1D joined in “X Factor” five years ago, Cowell saw the group give 100 percent in everything they do, Entertainment Weekly reported.

“Even though they were young, that was a grueling schedule and after a while I could see they were exhausted so when they asked how I feel about it I said for them to do whatever they want,” Cowell said.

After forming as a group and finishing third in the “X Factor” last 2010, One Direction signed into Cowell’s record label. Despite the British band’s decision, Cowell expressed his support and understanding for the group. As an advice, he told the group to make their own decisions, hoping that they will still stay together as a group.

For Cowell, the long break will be a good thing for 1D members, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan. However, he hopes that they will eventually be back together.
