Sir Elton John becomes a father

Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish are now the proud parents of a baby boy, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, born to a surrogate mother in California.

The couple informed the UsMagazine.com that Zachary was born on December 25, 2010 and weighed around 7 pounds, 15 ounces at the time of birth.

Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents, said the overwhelmed couple.

The English singer-songwriter and composer, known for his Billboard hits like 'Candle in the Wind 1997', 'Nikita' and 'Sacrifice', married Furnish in 2005 after 12 years together.

A representative for the couple stated that no details about the surrogacy arrangement would be given as they intended to respect and protect the privacy of the surrogate mother.
