A man named Fernando Gonzalez surrendered himself to police after a video of him beating up and using Mace on a father, Derrick Dunn, and his six-year-old daughter, was distributed by authorities.

Gonzalez, 27, went into a laundromat in the Bronx and beat up Dunn over a dispute involving laundry carts, the New York Daily News said. After the brutal beating, Gonzalez reportedly maced the young girl and her 47-year-old father.

Police released video footage obtained from the laundromat on Monday, leading Gonzalez to turn himself in. He was charged with assault, authorities said.

As seen in the video, Gonzalez burst into the coin laundry facility on White Plains Road on Saturday evening and started punching Dunn. At one point, Gonzalez is seen holding Dunn down and readying a bottle of Mace before spraying the man and his daughter.

The fire department told NY1 that two other people at the laundromat were also sprayed with Mace and taken to a local hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.

Authorities said an unidentified woman who was with Gonzalez engaged in a fight with Dunn over using a laundry cart. Gonzalez tried to settle the dispute, they said.

"It was really, really awful," witness Rita Ferguson told ABC. "The way he beat that man was horrible. He started spraying, we thought it was a gun or something.”

Another witness, 11-year-old Star Mercer, said she had to go to the hospital after Gonzalez sprayed the Mace.

"I inhaled it, I couldn't breathe," Mercer said.
