Frankie Shaw as Bridgette
Rafi (Miguel Gomez) tries to stop his ex Bridgette (Frankie Shaw) from getting their daughter vaccinated in a sneak peek from Season 1, episode 2 of “SMILF.” Showtime

Bridgette and her ex Rafi argue over whether to get their daughter Larry vaccinated in next week’s episode of “SMILF.”

In a sneak peek from Season 1, episode 2 of the new Showtime comedy, Bridgette (Frankie Shaw) is in line to have Larry checked up by a doctor when Rafi (Miguel Gomez) and his now girlfriend Nelson (Samara Weaving) arrive to look over Larry (twins Alexandra and Anna Mary Reimer) so Bridgette can go to work.

“He has chicken pox?” Rafi asks Bridgette.

“Well, I don’t know. He might,” Bridgette replies. “But either way I want him to get vaccinated today.”

Tension between the exes rises when Rafi tries to convince Bridgette not to get their daughter vaccinated. “No, we talked about that,” Rafi reminds Bridgette. “The stuff they put on those vaccines is poison.”

When Bridgette comments that his mother has filled his head with some crazy stuff, Rafi defends his mother saying, “My mom informed me how America doesn’t care about poor people.”

“What is that have to do with vaccines?” a confused Bridgette asks.

“Government mind control,” answers Rafi.

Since she’s is going to be late for work, Bridgette abruptly cuts the argument. But before she can leave, Rafi asks how long they need to babysit Larry.

When Bridgette says that it’s going to be a long time, Rafi tells her that he has AA meeting later that day. “Bridge, I have my AA meeting today at four o’clock. I’m making the coffee. … You want me to bail on my coffee commitment, Bridge? I can’t do that.”

Bridgette then suggests that her job is more important than Rafi’s sobriety. “I’m gonna rush through my job which houses, clothes and feeds our kids, so you could make coffee? Is that what’s happening?”

While Rafi realizes that he doesn’t have much of a choice but to babysit Larry while Bridgette is at work, he tells his ex not to belittle his sobriety again.

Although Rafi is against the idea of getting Larry vaccinated, the synopsis for the episode reveals that Larry ends up getting a vaccine. Interestingly, it is Nelson who gets Larry vaccinated without Rafi’s consent.

Elsewhere in the episode, Bridgette fantasizes about what it would be like living the life of a wealthy, stay-at-home mom after Ally (Connie Britton) — the mom of the children she tutors — leaves her in charge of their house for the day.

In the trailer for the episode, Bridgette is seen trying Ally’s bath tub, lying on her bed and using some of her makeup.

“SMILF” Season 1, episode 2, titled “1,800 Filet-O-Fishes & One Small Diet Coke,” airs on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime. Watch the sneak peek and the trailer for the episode below:
