  • A leaked listing reveals Sony is releasing a new high-end pair of headphones
  • The listing revealed that it is the WH-1000XM4, the successor to the excellent WH-1000XM3
  • The listing has been taken down

Sony's WH-1000XM3 is one of the most highly acclaimed noise-cancelling headphones in the world right now. A leaked listing, however, reveals that the company is planning on releasing a new model that will be even better.

According to a since-deleted Walmart listing (via Gizmodo), Sony is releasing the new WH-1000XM4 in the near future. The new audio device is set to succeed the popular WH-1000XM3 and can be expected to offer better features for the same cost. Here's what the listing, which was taken down, reveals about the device:

Improved noise cancellation

While the WH-1000XM3 already offered best-in-class noise cancellation features, the listing indicates that the WH-1000XM4 will offer improved noise cancellation using additional on-board microphones. The extra mics will also work to improve call quality whenever the user makes or takes a call with the device on.

Ambient sound control

Users will be able to adjust ambient sound using the Sony Headphones Connect app. This will allow users to hear everything happening around them while they listen to music or converse with someone.

Premium sound

Per the listing, Sony is using its proprietary technology to allow the WH-1000XM4 to deliver sound quality that's as close as possible to a dedicated wired audio connection. No more debates about wired headphones offering better sound than wireless headphones.

Long battery life

The WH-1000XM4 is expected to offer the same 30-hour battery life as that of its predecessor. Unlike the older model, however, the new device will feature fast-charging tech that will allow users to enjoy five hours of listening to music and taking calls with just 10-minute charge.

Easier pairing

The new WH-1000XM4 is also said to feature improved connectivity and easier pairing with two devices using Bluetooth. Users will be able to change audio sources with just a press of a button. This means users won't have to put in the extra effort and patience to switch from listening to a smartphone to a laptop and back.

Same pricing

The listing says the WH-1000XM4 will start selling for $350, the same price as the WH-1000XM3.
