“Atlanta” star Donald Glover is still making time for Marvel projects. The voice of Miles Morales in “Ultimate Spider-Man” has signed on to executive produce a new animated series for FXX, “Marvel’s Deadpool.”

Glover will serve as EP along with his brother Stephen Glover. They’ll also be writers for Season 1, which will consist of 10 episodes. Unlike other Marvel cartoons, “Deadpool” will be aimed at adults. After all, you can’t tell a Wade Wilson story that’s family friendly.

“Deadpool” was brought to the big screen last year with Ryan Reynolds in the lead role. The movie brought in over $780 million worldwide, so it isn’t surprising that the Merc with a Mouth is being used in another title. However, the animated series likely won’t be connected to the live-action movie. A voice actor has not been announced in the lead role yet. Glover has also not announced if he’ll voice any characters.

Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, is a Canadian superhero whose story starts after he learns he has terminal cancer. He enters a sketchy government program in hopes of finding a cure. While attempting to make him into another Wolverine, they managed to give him superhuman strength and healing, stopping the cancer, but they also left him severely disfigured.

FX Productions and Marvel Television are teaming up to produce the “Deadpool” series. This marks their second joint project, the first being “Legion” earlier this year. This is also the Glover brothers’ second show with FX Productions. Stephen and Donald are also executive producers on “Atlanta,” for which they won Golden Globes earlier this year.

Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled ‘Marvel’s Deadpool’ series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit ‘Atlanta,’” President of Original Programming for FX Networks Nick Grad said in a press release. “With the success of ‘Legion,’ we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”

Glover, who raps under the name Childish Gambino, is also getting in on the live-action superhero movies. He’ll play a character in “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” but details on his role are being kept top secret. Glover’s “Atlanta” co-star Zazie Beetz will be fighting alongside a different Deadpool. She is set to play Domino in the live-action sequel, which will film this summer.

Despite “Spider-Man: Homecoming” not coming out until July, Marvel and Glover already share a lot of fans. Glover scored his role as Miles Morales in the animated “Ultimate Spider-Man” series after fans started a viral campaign asking for the actor to play the role.

Every time Spider-Man is being replaced for a new franchise about the webslinger, Glover’s name comes up again. Unfortunately, he was a bit too old to play a high school student this time. Tom Holland will be playing Peter Parker in the July flick. Fans will have to wait until then to find out who the “Community” alum is playing.

“Marvel’s Deadpool” Season 1 is set to premiere in 2018 on FXX. An exact premiere date has not been announced yet.
