Setting up a new smartphone can be tricky. Even with data-syncing features provided by smartphone manufacturers and software makers, transferring your important information from one device to another is no cakewalk.

Sprint wants to help end the frustration. The carrier is rolling out a new free service aimed at taking the stress out of setting up a new smartphone. Direct 2 You lets customers request a Sprint representative to come to the location of their choice to deliver their new smartphone and help set it up and transfer all of their vital information from an old device.

Sprint will reach out to qualified customers via text or email with information on the service. Customers can set up their appointment at the location of their choosing, whether it is their home or a local coffee shop.

While customers can choose a new phone beforehand, the Direct 2 You rep will also come with other smartphone options in case there is a change of heart. Customers also have the option of turning in an old smartphone for recycling. Direct 2 You is a free service for Sprint customers.

Sprint rolled out the service in the Kansas City area Monday, and new locations are to be added frequently. Customers in the Chicago and Miami areas will have access to Direct 2 You starting April 20, and national expansion is to continue throughout 2015. Direct 2 You representatives drive Sprint-branded Fiat 500s. The carrier expects to add 5,000 vehicles to its program by the end of the year.
