Leaked photos of actress Carrie Fisher wearing her costume for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” have surfaced online. She will be reprising her role as Princess Leia after more than three decades in the upcoming movie. [Spoiler Alert!]
The leaked photos of Fisher appear in this video posted on YouTube by That Hashtag Show. The photos are purported to be from one of the wardrobe fittings and show the actress wearing a grey shirt and pants with a black jacket and boots. The report notes how the costume is very similar to what the soldiers were wearing aboard Leia’s ship in “Star Wars: A New Hope” in the opening scene when Darth Vader attacks.
Confirming this is in fact the costume the actress will be wearing, Jay Carlson of IndieRevolver said he has received similar images from his sources in the movie. Carlson expects the costume and details about the character will be revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con event where J.J. Abrams and his team will be members of a panel.
Both reports note how a color drawing of the Princess Leia costume from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” appeared on the MakingStarWars website in January. The drawing may have been based on the photo that has now leaked online. The report described the costume and Fisher's new hairstyle in the movie.
The reports expect Leia to be in a leadership role in the hierarchy of the Resistance forces, which will take on the remnant forces of the Empire. The deaths of the Emperor and Darth Vader have produced a new villain called Supreme Leader Snoke, played by Andy Serkis, holding the reins of the Empire, which will be called the First Order in the movie.
Two trailers of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” have been released so far and the trailers mainly focus on the new actors in the franchise, including Daisy Ridley as Rey and John Boyega as Finn. Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca were seen briefly in the second trailer. Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker and Fisher as Leia are yet to be seen in any of the images or trailers of the movie.
