With the long-awaited “Force Awakens” finally having released, fans of the series now turn their attention to the upcoming anthology film, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Set in the “Star Wars” universe before the events of “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope,” “Rogue One” will follow a group of Rebel spies who are on a mission to steal the Death Star plans.

“Rogue One” will be one of two “Star Wars” anthology films — standalone films. The second one is an untitled Han Solo film. While details about the film are still scarce, it will be directed by “The Lego Movie” directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Alden Ehrenreich has already been cast as Han Solo. The film is scheduled for a May 25, 2018 release.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” released in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015 and grossed $119.1 million on its opening day, making it the highest-grossing opening day for a film ever. The film also had the biggest opening weekend with $247 million grossed.
