Donald Glover is already a busy man with a role in the upcoming “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and starring in FX’s “Atlanta,” but could the actor also take on a role in the upcoming Han Solo prequel film? Earlier this month, rumors began to spread that Glover was the first choice to play Lando Calrissian. But according to Glover, the rumors are purely speculation.

“Yep. There are rumors,” Glover told Time. According to the outlet, 32-year-old actor wouldn’t speak about any potential meetings with Lucasfilm but did say he was a big fan of the “Star Wars” series.

“I mean, I grew up on [‘Star Wars’]. My dad was a big fan,” said Glover. “I had all the toys when I was little. I had a Darth Vader with the lightsaber he has. It was cool. It’s a dynasty. It’s like the bible. I love that franchise.”

Not much is known about the film yet, but it will be directed by “The Lego Movie” directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Alden Ehrenreich has already been cast as Han Solo. The film is scheduled for a May 25, 2018 release and will be the second film in a “Star Wars” anthology following “Rogue One.”

The Wrap was the first to report about Lando Calrissian’s inclusion in the film. According to the site, the current casting code name for the character is “Chance.” Following The Wrap’s report, BirthMoviesDeath.com reported that Glover’s name was being considered for the report.

Although Glover isn’t known as an action film star, the actor has the look and smooth personality to play a character such as Lando. And while Glover may lean more towards comedies, the actor has what it takes to play more serious roles as well, as seen in “The Martian.”

Originally played by actor Billy Dee Williams in “Star Wars Episode V” and “Star Wars Episode VI,” Lando Calrissian is the administrator of Cloud City — a floating city on the planet Bespin. Though it’s uncertain what kind of role Lando will have in the new film, the character has a long history with Han Solo that includes him losing the Millennium Falcon ship to Solo.
