Steve Sabol, who along with father Ed, revolutionized the promotion of sports with NFL Films, the marketing and filming operation of the U.S.'s National Football League, died Tuesday of brain cancer at age 69, the National Football League announced.

Steve Sabol's creativity and willingnes to experiment with odd camera angles, slow motion, and other theatre creating production techniques combined with John 'The Voice of God' Facenda's narration, to present the sport of professional football as almost gothic / Medieval struggles. The promotional films and documentaries were a major factor in the NFL's growth and increase in popularity.

Sabol won more than 40 Emmy awards and was named Sports Executive of the Year by the Sporting News in 2002.
